Privacy Policy

Overview

Comprendo ("we", "our", or "the app") is a macOS application developed by Rade Cojbasic (RSoft), Montenegro. This Privacy Policy explains how Comprendo handles your information.

We believe in radical transparency: we collect as little data as possible and process your documents locally whenever possible.

What We Do Not Collect

Comprendo does not collect, store, or transmit:

• The content of your PDF documents
• Your name, email address, or personal information
• Device identifiers or usage analytics
• Crash reports or diagnostic data
• Location data

Apple Translate (On-Device)

When you use the Apple Translate engine, all translation processing happens entirely on your device. Your documents are never sent to Apple's servers or any external service.

This requires downloading language packs in System Settings → General → Language & Region → Translation Languages.

Google Translate (Cloud)

When you choose to use Google Translate, the text content of your PDF is sent to Google's Translation API using your own API key. In this case:

• Text is transmitted to Google's servers for translation
• Your API key is stored securely in your Mac's Keychain
• Google's own privacy policy applies to data processed by their API
• We recommend reading Google's Privacy Policy

Using Google Translate is entirely optional. Apple Translate is always available as a private alternative.

Purchases & Trial

All purchases are processed by Apple through the Mac App Store. We do not have access to your payment information. Your trial usage (number of translated pages) is stored locally in your Mac's UserDefaults and is not transmitted anywhere.

Data Storage

Comprendo stores the following data locally on your device only:

• Trial page count (in UserDefaults)
• Google API key (in macOS Keychain — encrypted)
• Selected language preference
• Translated PDF files (saved to your Downloads folder)

Third-Party Services

Comprendo integrates with the following third-party services at your discretion:

• Apple Translation API — on-device, no data transmitted
• Google Cloud Translation API — only when you provide your API key and choose Google mode
• Apple App Store — for purchases and license validation

Children's Privacy

Comprendo is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. The latest version is always available at rsoft.me/privacy/comprendo. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
